Sustainable technology will remain a focus for businesses in 2024, with businesses adopting green data centres and carbon neutral practices. Generative AI will become increasingly prevalent, while 3D printing could offer bionic body part processing solutions and telemedicine applications. 1. Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence is a field of technology that can automate tasks and boost business efficiency, as well as detect fraud or any other issues humans might miss. Generative AI is an emerging field of artificial intelligence that uses algorithms to produce original text and image content – like memes and even entire books! Generative AI has already been utilized to generate memes and even write full-length novels! 2. Robotics Robotics is the field of technology concerned with designing, creating, and operating robots for a range of industries including manufacturing, healthcare and aviation. Robots have the advantage of working continuously without tiring, thus increasing productivity. Their greater accuracy also reduces errors and enhances quality control. Scientists are developing ways to attach artificial neurons to silicon chips capable of transmitting brain signals, potentially aiding people living with Alzheimer’s. 3. 3D Printing 3D printing has quickly become an essential technology, from providing customized prosthetics to cutting costs in production. Within the rail industry, for instance, 3D printing allows customized parts such as arm rests for drivers or housing covers for couplings to be manufactured – creating custom parts such as armrests for drivers. 2023 will bring more industrial-grade printers capable of printing large parts precisely, as well as software solutions that enable MES/workflow automation as well as predictive systems for CAD designs. 4. Virtual Reality Virtual Reality (VR) is an interactive simulation that allows people to engage with computer-generated environments through sight, sound and touch; movement may also be part of the experience. VR has many uses in industries ranging from entertainment and business to healthcare, and even as therapy tools to help patients overcome fears or traumas. Although some individuals include augmented reality in the category of virtual reality, others consider it to be its own field. 5. Bionics Bionics is the study of nature and how its principles can be applied to technology. This multidisciplinary field entails scrutinizing and translating “natural inventions” into technical applications. Engineers have taken inspiration from dolphins’ thick skin when modeling ship hulls and sonar imaging is inspired by animal echolocation. Human bionics may provide us with better artificial limbs or organs; however, some worry these technologies will widen the gap between rich and poor. 6. Artificial Senses Artificial senses are sensors designed to simulate certain human senses such as sight, sound and touch. Furthermore, these artificial sensors can gather data that the human mind cannot process such as smell and taste. This study is unique in its effort to develop an efficient emerging technology for fish quality assessment: computer vision, electronic nose (e-nose) and electronic tongue(e-tongue). All three artificial senses were tested and assessed for their capability of determining freshness of fish. 7. Artificial Intelligence in Medicine AI can revolutionize healthcare through an arsenal of tools, from disease diagnosis and laboratory testing enhancements, population health management, optimized medication dosages and support mental healthcare provision – to virtual healthcare assistance services and beyond. AI must be transparent and trustworthy for it to function in healthcare, with capabilities for addressing ethical concerns like privacy and data protection. 8. Artificial Intelligence in Education Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing education and providing students with exciting new learning experiences. Teachers can utilize this technology to focus more on individual students while providing personalized educational experiences. AI can play a pivotal role in revolutionizing teaching and learning practices and speeding progress towards meeting SDGs. However, its application in education must address key concerns surrounding privacy and inclusion. 9. Artificial Intelligence in Entertainment AI is revolutionizing the media & entertainment industry. It can assist with script writing & storytelling, video editing & post production, visual effects creation, and more. AI can be utilized for voice recognition & synthesis as well as audience insights analysis, however its implementation should be managed carefully; according to one recent study people who receive information about AI from media are more likely to think it could take over the world. 10. Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Artificial intelligence in healthcare holds great potential to revolutionize various aspects of medical care, from disease diagnosis and management, through setting guidelines, optimizing medication dosages and population health management to population wellness management. Physicians in the ED can benefit from using AI by quickly recognizing negative exams in computed tomographies, X-rays, and magnetic resonance images; this helps save both time and costs while decreasing diagnostic mistakes while increasing patient satisfaction and physician morale.
